A salon for cross-disciplinary exchange

Open Friction is a dedicated community for critical discourse, experimentation, and collaboration. We bring together visual artists, curators, designers, and architects to explore the intersection of disciplinary boundaries, fostering intellectual friction that sparks new ideas and unexpected outcomes.

What we do
Sessions rotate across three formats:

Themed discussions
One question that every discipline has to answer differently. What does "finished" mean? What do you do with what you can't control? How much do you want your work to be understood? Each session opens with a short provocation from one practitioner, then opens out into conversation.

Lightning rounds
Short, timed practice talking about your work to people who know nothing about your field. The best stress-test for clarity of thought and articulation.

WIP critique
Work-in-progress sessions for members who want a cross-disciplinary read on something currently in development.
